Evolve was asked by Bated Breath Theatre Company and director Mara Lieberman to create two puppet incarnations of the celebrated pop artist Andy Warhol -- a child version that's three feet tall, and the iconic Andy standing a whopping TEN feet tall -- for this immersive walking tour/theatre production inspired by his life. The two Andys performed many times in light rain and sweltering summer heat over a period of three months on the streets of downtown New York City with only minor touch-up repairs needed -- and Giant Andy even made an appearance in NYC's legendary Village Halloween Parade!
This three-foot tall puppet represents Andy as a sad, ill child. It was created to be manipulated by a single puppeteer (original performer Taylor McKenzie is pictured, along with Andy Warhol actor Jake Malavsky), and has a fully articulated neck, torso and limbs. With skillful manipulation, Little Andy can sit, kneel, walk, run and even do cartwheels.
